The Electrical Elephant Fence

An Electrical Elephant Fence is a barrier that use to protect villages from elephant attacks. It produce some serious current and it may harm to the elephants. Because of that elephants can not enter to the villages. But current elephant fence have some problems. Wasting electricity and harmful to other small animals are major problems of those. Sometimes children also get hurt because of that current. So we are came up with some solution for that problem.

We are Robust IT introducing automatic electricity supply system for elephant fence. From this system wastage of the electricity to elephant fence will be reduced. This system working with smart elephant collar that we are developing. When a smart collared elephant reaching to the signal range of the elephant fence, system will activate and give electricity to elephant fence. We use RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags to track the elephant collar. In the normal situations electricity supply to the elephant fence is off.

Sensors in the fence will use for identify the routing patterns of the elephants. From those data our web base system will give predictions to the Department of Wild Life Conservation about elephant threats. From that,Department can give messages to the villagers about threats from elephants.
This may helps to reduce the Human Elephant Conflict in Sri Lanka.

HL-52S Relay Module

In our project we have to deal with High Voltage current for elephant fence. In this case we have to use this HL-52S Relay Module. These are few specs of module. 5V, 10A 2-Channel Relay Interface board It can be controlled directly with 3.3V or 5V logic signals from Micro controller. It has 1*4 pin header for connecting power and for controlling the 2 relays marked on PCB as follows. GND - Connect 0V to this pin IN1 - Controls relay 1 IN2 - Controls relay 2 VCC - Connect 5V to this pin. Is used to power the Opto couplers.

Welcome

Welcome you all. This is the Official blog of Robust IT team. We are seeking new ways to use Information Technology in a different manner. Currently we are working on Human Elephant problem. This is open to you all..

Introduction

Last year marked the highest number of human and elephant deaths due to the human-elephant conflict compared to statistics since 2012, the annual report of the Wildlife Conservation Department 2016 indicated. Compared to 2015, the number of elephant deaths had increased by 74 and the number of human deaths had increased by 25. Gunfire had been the cause of death of 52 elephants. A total of 47 elephants died due to ‘hakka patas’, 26 due to electrocution, six due to poisoning, 12 due to train accidents and 17 due to other accidents. The cause of death of 54 elephants is unknown while 35 elephants died due to natural causes. The highest number of elephant attacks on humans was reported in Polonnaruwa, Eastern and Anuradhapura wildlife regions. Seventy eight people we...
